Call for Papers

Dear Colleagues,

The International Symposium on Current Developments in Intellectual Property Law – III was held in 2025 and jointly hosted by Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University and Balıkesir University. Preparations are now underway for the fourth symposium, to be held in 2026.

Supported by the Directorate General for Copyright of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, and Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, and hosted by Balıkesir University in cooperation with Tashkent State University of Law, L. N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, International Vision University (North Macedonia), and Karakalpak State University (Uzbekistan) on 6–7 May 2026, we are pleased to invite you to the International Symposium on Current Developments in Intellectual Property Law – IV, which will take place in person at the conference halls of Balıkesir University.

The symposium aims to provide an academic platform for scholarly discussion and to promote the exchange of knowledge on recent developments, emerging challenges, and solution proposals in the fields of intellectual and industrial property. This year's symposium will give particular priority to papers concerning Literary and Artistic Works, especially within the area of Copyright Law.

Scheduled for 6–7 May 2026, the Symposium is open to all academics, members of the judiciary, legal practitioners, and sector representatives with advanced expertise in Intellectual Property Law. The primary language of the symposium will be Turkish; however, presentations in English are also welcome.

The deadline for abstract submission is 6 March 2026. Prospective presenters should complete the application form located under the "Click to Submit Abstract" section at: https://fikrimulkiyet.balikesir.edu.tr/

The application form must include the title of the paper, methodology, main argument, and conclusions in the language of the paper, as well as a short English abstract (minimum 750, maximum 1000 words) accompanied by five keywords. The applicant's full name, academic title, affiliation, contact information, and ORCID iD must also be included.

Note: Accommodation and local transportation expenses for presenters arriving from outside Balıkesir, as well as members of the Scientific and Organising Committees, will be covered by the symposium sponsors. Abstract Submission Guidelines

  1. Abstracts must include the title of the proposed paper, its purpose, and the potential topics to be addressed.
  2. Abstracts should be a minimum of 750 and a maximum of 1000 words. Abstracts submitted in Turkish must also include an English version.
  3. At least five keywords must be provided (in both Turkish and English for papers to be presented in Turkish).
  4. Abstracts must align with the symposium themes; otherwise, they will not be included in the symposium e-book or programme.
  5. Abstracts should be prepared in 12-point Times New Roman, 1.25 line spacing, justified, on A4-size paper (210 × 297 mm). Margins should be 4 cm (left), 2 cm (right), and 3 cm (top and bottom).

Full Paper Submission Guidelines

  1. Full papers may be written in Turkish or English and must be prepared on A4-size paper (210 × 297 mm), using 12-point Times New Roman, 1.25 line spacing, and justified text.
  2. Margins should be 4 cm (left), 2 cm (right), and 3 cm (top and bottom).
  3. The manuscript title should be centred, single-spaced, written in 14-point bold uppercase Times New Roman.
  4. Section headings (excluding Introduction and Conclusion) must follow a numbered hierarchy.
  5. A cover page or a footnote must include the author's full name, academic title, affiliation, contact details (telephone and email) and ORCID iD.
  6. The manuscript must not exceed 20 pages, including tables, figures, abstract, and references.
  7. References must appear both in endnotes and in a final bibliography in accordance with OSCOLA citation style.
Important: Abstracts and full papers will be evaluated through peer review and plagiarism screening. Submissions with a similarity index exceeding 25% will not be accepted.
